I was wondering if anyone had an opinion about water pump lubricants?

Saw a can next to the Prestone this morning and wondered about its benefit.

From what I understand, you only need that if you run water only for coolant. Anti-freeze has the proper additives for that.

I could be wrong though.

In most cars the coolant is enough, however, some such as the GM 3.8 ltr V6 used here in the Holden Commodore has water pump lubricant tablets for adding to the mix.
