I am considering placing a water injection nozzle in my airbox, and was wondering what a small amount of water/methanol would do to an air filter? small amounts would be a half an ice teaspoon trickling out.
the airflow bottom to top in the box, and the nozzle will be on the top of the box. Because I am using a check valve, a little will still dribble out of the nozzle after the pump shuts off.
It's not getting injected prior to the filter, it's just that it will inject across the filter(filter is parallel to ground, and nozzle will inject above and parallel to it) the filter.
Yeah, I can, but I worry about the dribble causing problems. The airbox is a simple place to put the nozzle because it is the only hard plastic to mount the nozzle to. Plus the farther it travels, in this case, the better it will distribute.
Methanol needs very little time to evaporate. I'm injecting about 7" from the throttlebody with 900CFM flowing through a 3" pipe. I would imagine the air if flowing pretty fast through there and no distribution problems. Inject it 6" to 1' from the throttlebody and you will be fine. Dribble or siphoning should not be a problem as long as it's injected before the throttlebody.
You really don't have much room to work with. Since you're injecting that close to the TB, face the outlet of the nozzle into (opposite) the incoming airflow. A good kit like alkycontrol.com would be nice here with injection pressures of over 100psi if needed.
I will be at least 230 psi. M0.5 or M1 wit a 150 psi pump
Nozzle should go in the bottom right, and the pre-turbo pipe is in the top right of the box. 4 cm from filter to top at mounting location, and 6cm at the intake pipe.
