I have a 1998 Lincoln Continental. I have water in the front passenger footwell. It's only wet right in front of the seat. The carpet on the firewall is dry, so I'm assuming that eliminates anythig from the engine compartment. I ran it for 4 days without using the AC, and the water is still there. The carpet along the door is dry, so I assume that elimnates any leakage from the door. I don't see any water stains around the windshield or sun roof. It's bad enough that when I removed the rubber plug in the floor below the carpet, that water dripped out. I'm at a complete loss as to where it's coming from. Any ideas?

Could it be leaking in/around your windshield or sun-roof (If equipped) and it's running down the frame to that particular spot and pooling there?
Can you pull back the carpet and investigate? Is there any holes in the floor boards from rust?

I had the same problem with my '94 Connie on both sides.
Took me forever to figure out because once it was wet, it stayed wet for weeks under the rubber sub-carpet. I checked the AC drain, windsheild washer hoses, and even poured water into the air inlet under the windshield, and could not make water come in from the top...no drips at all.
It turned out to be that under the car where the floorpan angles up to meet the firewall, there was a small rust hole in the middle of the sandwich between the actual floor pan metal, and the lower sheetmetal framing (or what passes for framing on a unibody).
This double layer catches water spray from the front wheels, and is prone to rust inside. Driving in the rain or even an underbody carwash kept putting water in there that would stay long after the event because it acts like a water scoop from the wheel spray and fills the pan up to 1/2 deep under the carpet.
Since the upper floor pan layer is inaccessible without cutting out the lower pan, I got a can of Great Stuff expanding urathane foam insulation from the hardware store and filled that 1/2" gap as far in as I could.
That finally solved the problem.

Do you have any strange fog patterns coming up from your defrost vents?
I've looked all around the windshield and sunroof. I havn't seen any signs of leakage in those areas.
No strange mist/fog from the vents or defrost.
River Rat, I plan on changing the oil in the next few days. I'll look around and see what I can find while I'm under the car.

I second the Garden-hose test method. You can flood the areas that you might suspect and see what happens.
If the sunroof drains are clogged, that's where water will accumulate. What are the chances the car isn't garaged?
