Your body maintains homeostasis at a pH of 7.35 - 7.45. You can not alter that through diet, and if you somehow managed to, a trip to the hospital would be in order. The idea of an acidic or alkaline body is pushed by alternative medicine Internet hucksters who are trying to sell supplements, diet plans, and other nonsense.

You have to have something seriously wrong for your body's pH to get out of whack. Commonly uncontrolled diabetes, impaired kidney function, or impaired lung function.

Yes, and acidosis/alkalosis will be quick to follow. That's what I find so obnoxious about the alt medicine crowd who sell ridiculous things like water alkalyzers and special diets. If someone managed to modify their body's pH, they'd be circling the drain.

If anyone wishes to induce alkalosis on a harmless and temporary basis a good way to do so is by hyperventilating. See how that makes you feel.

I suggest you do it sitting down however.
