...for about 11 days, to visit my parents and brother/fam.
didn't take the Nikon DSLR on this trip, and didn't take many pics either - just a few iphone pics...Perhaps I will post some more when I get the pics off wife's iphone, she took more than I did.

Just a few of the more 'interesting' (but still not very special) pics, and 2 videos:

Panorama of wife on the beach of Negombo; Indian ocean in background...and other beach pics:

Cool scene during flight from London to Raleigh, NC - over Canada...

Video of new member to my parents' home - (in naughty mode-his name is Boone)

Sample of driving in Sri Lanka:

(notice the van driver's toboggan - in 95* F and 78% humidity)

It was a good trip, but the heat was pretty bad...

About the underlined part of your post ^ - same here...my parents get really sad when I leave and I have started dreading the last day of the trip even before the 1st day, which I know is stupid, but that's how it is...I am not very good at dealing with emotional goodbyes

But I still value the time I get to spend with them, so I try to make this trip every year...

Cool! My mother was born there when it was still under British rule and named Ceylon. Her father was a Colonel in the Army. She told me a story once when a jaguar was lurking around outside the rickety building they were in and could see its eyes through the cracks in the wooden walls!

Hey Tbird, great photos. I did something similar over Dec/Jan with my wife and our kids. Saying good bye is bad, but even moreso once you have kids. I can say that after a few times though it gets better, but not by much. I'll post some pics sometime.

I owuld love to visit sri lanka one day. How's the safety situation there? wasn't there a civil war recently?

I just watched the driving video. Looks to be more civilized than what I've seen in India. Also, no cows, lamb, donkeys, and pigs running around in your video.

The civil was ended in 2009 - everything's back to normal, and safe now
and SL was chosen the #1 place to visit on Lonely Planet website this year

haha - yeah no more of that just tuk tuks and bicycles everywhere
this is not even one of the super highways (tolled) where only newer and faster vehicles are allowed...(no tuk tuks/cyclists)
