Well I for one have no problem using Amsoil products. I'm not afraid of going to court or fighting with a dealership. I also think dealers would prefer to stay out of court, since in most cases the court will most likely be sympathetic to the "Average Joe". Having said that, I also think there is a magic number that a company will go to court to try and defend. In that situation the "Average Joe" can still win, but lose because of costs associated with going to court. I've seen intimidation work many times working at dealerships. Me I fight to the bitter end.

First of all I agree that some dealers live by intimidation and weaseling. Heck, they can get away with it with the average Joe, why not? I also think that your "leaning toward what you think the manufacturer's interpretation to be" is not a bad thing and is the path to the least hassle. That said, if confronted with legal action, dealers and manufacturers will NOT want to go before a court of law. They know the most probable outcome in all but the most extreme abuse cases*. And I'm here to tell you using Amsoil, RP, Redline, etc isn't on that list.

*As for what's on that list:
Using just a "wrong" lubricant....gear oil or water in the engine (or vv), never changing the oil, etc
