Walther PPK 380

I carry one every day. I have 7 carry guns, ranging from a Ruger LCR to an XD-40 sub compact, to a Colt New Agent compact 1911 and the PPK is my favorite. It's the best to carry, great to shoot, and by god you feel like James Bond when you draw it.

IMO the PPK is the perfect gun.

Good weapon. Would not be on my list for CCW but as a shooter not bad.

Take care, bill

PS: two words... Bond, James Bond....

Fondled the PPK today. I don't like the feel. The Beretta 84 Cheetah is looking more likely.

Is that for target or defense?

I have a PPK/S and a PPK (.32 and .380) and an 85 Cheetah and they are pretty different guns. I can't really say which I like better because of this. The 380 PPK/S hasn't been shot yet - it has all the fancy engravings and is set back as a Christmas present for my wife.

The DA trigger is definitely better on the Beretta.

One of the interesting things about the .380 Cheetah that the .22 Cheetah (87) lacks is a decocker.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Cheetah in any caliber. I'd also get one in .32 if they sold them here.

As expensive Cor-Bon is I hope for defense. Most of your JHP .380 ammo expands well. The difference is not that great in my book. I'd rather see you pick a load that you can shoot often and get accurate with then ammo that is too expensive to shoot.

Seen too many people who do pick an expensive load and find out that their gun does not cycle it well.

PPK's and Makarov's are hard to beat for a good compact concealed pistol. Id rather have a 9mm for not only power but price. I can get a box of 50 for $8 but the best .380 I found was for $11.74 for HP's. Not worth it to me. And the Makarov's 9x18 is common and for $9 its hard to beat. Also it looks just like a PPK for a LOT less money! $200 sound good to you?

I have had good luck with Seller and Bellot in my PPK, for the range only ofcourse.

I have a ppk/s (s&w manufacture) and my wife has a ppk (interarms manufacture)
The only reason I don't carry it anymore is the SR9 is nearly as easy to carry.
BUT, I do still stuff it in my pocket sometimes for quick trips.

I prefer the PP or the PPK/S over the PPK. The German and Interarms made ones have a better reputation as far as the PPK goes. Most could use some trigger work on the DA side of things, but if you are used to shooting a wheel gun DA, then its not too bad. Just need to practice.

The Bersa Thunder 380 is a good and cheap alternative to the PPK.

I ended up buying this, and an H&K USP Compact 40 and 45, from Bud's Guns.
