Local Walmart here in NC finally received some Mobil 1 to fill up those empty shelves...a quart of 5w30 is up to 5.08 qt....guess I will keep buying up those 20$ 5qt jugs while they last.

Jeez, it was $5.58 in in Northern Va tonight. Went looking for bulbs to replace these crummy Luminics (bought 9004 GE Night Hawks) and noticed that Walmart is really Fram-Land. I noticed a "house" brand called Super Tech there. Coolants, conventional AND synthetic oils, an oil additive, oil and air filters (you guys really have me thinking about this stuff!), all of it pretty reasonably priced. Anyone use Super Tech? Was really curious about whether the Super Tech coolant is really G-05, and whether their Synthetic at $3.05/Qt is good stuff? If so, Advanced is toast, I'll never go there again. THAT would be liberating! They're awful here.

WalMart's "Supertech" products are pretty decent. Run a thread search for SuperTech and you'll read all you need to know.

It is up to something like 5.26 in NH. I can still find it on base for 4.35 though

Here in Miami and in Homestead, FL, the Wal-Mart's oil selection of Mobil 1 is quite depleted. The Homestead store had no Mobil 1 of any kind last time I was there. A closer store to me got some of the 5 quart Mobil 1 5w30 SS jugs in with a grey top (not blue like before). The new price is $25.04. Still no EP gold tops available in 5 gallon jugs; I guess they will cost about $30 if they bring those back. They did get a supply of 5 quart Supertech 10w30 synthetic in that I stocked up on for my girlfriends 99 Camry. At 12.74, it seems like as a good a deal as I am going to find.

Using SuperTech products, I can do an entire oil change for $7.18; Not even the price of half the Mobil 1 I would need (Not that ST is anything close to M1!). But with my oil-burning Saturn there's no sense in dumping in extra $$.
After cutting up a few of the new ST E-Core filters, I'm happy with how they looked and felt, even if that's the weakest way to judge an oil filter. SuperTech oil has also given very good used oil analysis for a $1.16/quart oil.

yes supertech oil is good. when changed at 3000 mile intervals an engine will last a long time. we had one with 185000 miles on it and it had super tech since about 60000. dont know if you can go longer than 3000, probably can but when its only $8 an oil change, not much point imo. hopefully the walmart here will start stocking more mobil 1 products. the other oils seem to be fine but the mobil 1 is mostly gone.

WalMart's SuperTech antifreeze/coolant is an unlicensed DEX-COOL clone* furnished by Prestone. It's marker dye is blue-green in the concentrate. Dunno about the premix.
