Perhaps the primary customer base - the one they hope to increase - is not the more serious oil people like BITOGers, but the very dollar store shoppers that were mentioned earlier.

It does look cheap, though, I agree. I would be embarrassed for anyone to see a bottle like that on my shelf in the garage.

I'm sure this redesign was "market tested", but I agree it looks terrible. The die hard SuperTech fans will find it and buy it anyway as long as they keep the price low.

You didn't use an image URL. The URL you used actually goes to a .html file with some additional passed parameters.

Here is the correct code. I used a space before and after the link so that it wouldn't parse it as an actual call for an image. But this is the same URL I used for the displayed image above:

I'm guessing it's a Canadian only thing, given that our ST is sourced completely differently than in any part of the U.S. And the packaging is absolutely horrid. It's at least as bad as the bottom end Canadian Tire products (which are, however, fully licensed SOPUS products, just in ugly bottles). At least they can't louse up the 5 gallon pails. Or can they?

Saw that the other day at a WM.

If you look at the packaging, it says 'powered by Supertech', and if you read the back label, it is the EXACT same statement that was on the ST bottles...so this is just a slight re-packaging on the same product.

I think its silly, I liked the ST design with the hexagons on it...but as long as it is an inexpensive API-approved oil, it will sell, and the name doesn't really matter.

BITOG does not upload any photos. It only displays links to photos uploaded to other sites.

An image URL is something that ends with a .jpg or .gif, or .png extension. What you provided was a link to a photobucket website, not an individual image. That's why it didn't display correctly. Hokiefyd explained it very well.

Or it's the exact same marketing approach on a totally different product replacement. With Wally's involved that is a high possibility.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Perhaps someone up here will do some VOAs of before and after the switch. I'm not sure if they'd be switching the product. After all, it's going to be hard for Walmart Canada to find something more competitively priced than Safety-Kleen.
