Looking at the close out pricing on the Cooper Discoverer All-Terrain at walmart and it looks like a re-badged AT3 4S? Have been running the discount tire Cooper ATP 2 for the past few years and that's been a great tire. Any thoughts on the Walmart labeled alternative?

I have no issue with Walmart tires in general.

However just because they look like rebadged whatever doesn't mean they are. There are lots of ways to cheapen a tire and have it look the same, and they might need to in order to meet the constant cost reduction demands of Walmart. The branded ones often lack the specs to show it - ie true weight, belting specs, etc. Some research might be worth while.

How attractively are they priced?

I've had VG+ experiences with Cooper tires. There's always some better tire and there's always lots worse.

Pretty attractive. Under $700 for the set in LT275/70r18.

Well I pulled the trigger. We’ll see how they compare against the old ATP 2. They certainly look like rebadged AT3 4S so I’m optimistic.

Are they made in the USA? Coopers tend to get a favorable review. Have you looked at the Dextero all-terrain tires that are made in the USA? David from the autopian just had a write up on them.

I think you will be happy w the tires

I realize you've already bought them, but people can compare specs (load capacity, treadwear, etc) and see if they've been "cheapened". I doubt they are or will be, especially from reputable brands like Goodyear, Cooper, and so on. Walmart simply has buying power to get an exclusive model, better pricing, and so on.

Two issues you could run into are a) if you need a replacement, you can't go to a regular tire shop that sells the same brand* and b) if you have roadside protection, even through the tire and not the store, tire shops likely won't honor it and will tell you you have to go back to Walmart.

* The tire shop could certainly sell you the non-Walmart variant

Great feedback, very reassuring. I kind of wanted to get something 3PMS rated this time but the old Coopers weren't and drove excellent in winter so i suspect they opted not to pay extra for the rating despite their performance. Hoping for the same with these.

It’s a great way for cooper to get mileage out of molds which are still good and useful, while newer models take over in the premium stores. Might be a more genuine cooper than the newer ones under Goodyear ownership. If it is truly a relabeled AT3, they should be great tires - the AT3 was a well-rated tire. Easy to live with a performed well.

HERCULES Avalance RT ( L ) , COOPER Evolution Winter ( C ) , MASTERCRAFT Glacier Trex ( R ) . COOPER is part of GOODYEAR .

All 3 are T rated , 12/32s' tread depth , deep sipes close to base of the tire ( 11/32s ? ) , studdable . Reasonable prices . Rebates too .

I was waiting for a deal on Toyo Observes and ended up getting a set of Starfire 5.0 for half price- apparently an older Cooper. Can't argue with the price/revues and previous Cooper experience......but mostly the price these days.

Picked up and installed yesterday. Appear to be genuine made in USA coopers. Mounted and balanced well. Two actually took no weight!!

The winter siping is pretty shallow from what I can tell so long term is still a question.

Dec 1st 2025 shows as a $120 rebate on 4 Cooper Discoverer AT at the Wally site. I almost bought then thinking I would get a Walmart markdown plus the rebate. I did not see the rebate on the Cooper site for that tire. I called Cooper they said no rebate on those ones.

He said Dec 1st 2025 is the last day you can send the rebate in. When you see it in the picture of the rebate on Walmart, it does not say that is the last day to submit it. I assumed I would have got it. Pretty misleading those Wally people......
