Anyone ever try a Wagner power roller? Are they worth it? I got a fairly large project involving painting that includes a 20 foot high cathedral ceiling that I don't want to be up any longer than usual coming up soon. I've read that if you have a large project, it's worth it. Is cleaning a real pain in the butt?

I had one and it worked really well. I painted the entire interior of a big house. It looked good, and I'm notoriously un-handy with paint and such things....

have had one for several years. I find that clean up is time consuming if the project is a single room or smaller.

For multiple rooms or a whole house, it's fabulous. I would think for your applicaton, it would be darn near perfect. It would save you countless trips up and down the ladder, drips between the pan and wall, and all that mess.

Clean up is basically run water thru it until it's clear. Not difficult but it can take some time.

As a compromise, I bought a Paint Stick that uses a hand pump to fill the long handle with paint, saving trips to the paint tray. For a single room or less, it's better than either a regular roller or the power roller.

Thanks. I came across the "pump stick" too and it just didn't look right. Looks also like there would be a big mess potential.
Yeah, this is my living room that my wife has been hounding me about. It's about 30x40 with a 20 foot high ceiling. I can handle the side walls, just the ceiling looks rather intimidating.
I figure with this power roller, I can "cake" the paint on and be done with it in one coat.

Schmoe,

Those things are a gimmick! I wish I had seen your post before you got it. You can't beat the regular 5 gallon bucket and strainer with a roller extention. If you use a high quality nap roller and dip it in the bucket, run it over the screen/strainer you will get the correct millage (thickness) of paint without killing yourself.

I've used them too - and I've lost parts to them. Which adds to the annoyance factor.

OK. Finally got to painting this weekend. Had to rent a personal lift for about 140 bucks. Used the power roller, what a PIECE OF $HIT. Thing clogged up within the first ten minutes, then paint started pouring out of it when I'm up 20 feet in the air. Could not paint evenly. Then everytime you moved more than 5 feet, you had to move the whole contraption with it. Clean up, OMG. Took about 1 hour to clean it. I finally resorted back to the manual method, which I've done lots of times and now question why I didn't do it in the first place. Anybody want to buy a slightly used, througly cussed power roller????
