A ridiculous/cool/stupid/awesome hot rod. He calls it a rat rod, but seriously? And for the BITOG'ers, you even get a view of the oil pressure gauge!

I have seen that on the show Counting Cars. You should see how many cars this guy owns! Must have a couple of dozen cars scattered across his property in Vegas, a lot of them rare old muscle cars.

I don't know why he would call it a rat rod, the paint has no fade, the body is perfectly in line, and all the chrome is in perfect condition.

Maybe if I got to see the car close up, and from all angles, I would find something a rat rod would have.

Windshields are for sissies. Besides, you can tell how happy he is by counting the bugs in his teeth.

That is so NOT a rat rod!A rat rod is usually built with leftover hot rod parts from other projects and you just leave whatever is left of the paint of the body alone.

While I realize that 1000 HP is quite a bit (the website has the actual specifications and contradicts the video), I actually expected it to be more. 500HP from a 4.6L does not seem to be an outlandish accomplishment--of course, perhaps that was not the main objective, but with 2 superchargers each, it certainly had to be on the menu.

Did I miss something?

I don't think you missed anything - except maybe that the idea here is not ultimate performance. The idea (I think) was to do something no one else had done, and make it a real show-stopper. In that sense, I think it's a success. The blowers are not going to be turning very fast, but you end up with a driveable hot rod with a smooth powerband. It looks like it runs well just off-idle, indicating a pretty mild state of tune. The owner even says he doesn't care what it will do in the quarter-mile.
