I did my own oil change using Mobil 1 esp formula 5w30, which according to the VW manual is good for 20,000km with our sulphur content in Costa Rica.
I am going to change oil at 15,000 and have an oil test just too see.
Here the Mobil 1 which is vw507 approved is about the same price as the Castrol Edge Profesional 5w30 which is 505.01 approved (according to my VW manual without DPF)
Which of the two is better for long mileage?
Is there any advantage in using the 507, over the 505.01? (without DPF)
Thanks

Yes, go for 507 as it is variable (long) service long life oils.
505.01 is fixed (short) service oils.
Two different quality standards, in VW.

Interesting dilema

Regarding your fuel there I would choose vw505.01 because of a slightly stronger "add pack" (TBN n stuff)

But vw507 is way better oil....
Give vw507 a chance and do an oil test at 10,000 +/-.....

507 is a more modern, robust approval. That would be my choice. Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w30 is excellent oil.

If it is not, it will be. Mobil 1 is moving ESP to GTL base.

Anybody know about Akron Spitzer 5W/40 full synthetic. Label shows VW502 for gasoline and VW505.00 and 505.01 for diesel. Is it possible that it is suitable for both gas and diesel?
The specs are rather suspicious.
See picture.

A bunch of obsolete standards... Vw506... Everything is in *-08 suffix...thats why they managed to couple A3/B3 and C3 on the same label (TBN below or equal to 8)...

I dont understand how oil can be A3/A1/A5 at the same time....

Would not buy it

There are even more nonsense...

Porsche... A40 is full saps spec.

Then it changes to mid SAPS with both BMW LL-04 & MB 229.51 standards

Then it goes back to full SAPS with vw502&506... And to mid SAPS with 505.01...

Same goes for ACEA line... Its mix of Full to mid SAPS specifications
