For anybody that cares (and those that don't), here are 3 pictures of the liter of VW power steering fluid that I picked up from my local VW dealer today. 1L = $18

IIRC, that is just like pentosin CHF11S
Febi bilstein sells an equivalent that is a few dollars cheaper.

Not enough interest from prospective buyers. Decided to keep for at least 2 more years. After doing the math, it made better sense to hang onto her for a while.

The VW bottle states that CHF11S can be mixed with this fluid. You can see it in one of the pictures if you squint.

I would not mix them. I would flush the old stuff out and put in M1, works like a gem on my Highlander.

I'll use this new VW fluid to slowly replace the old fluid. I'll leave approx. 1/4L in the bottle for any future top-ups that may be required. I'm not planning any future maintenance to the PS system.
In the event I ever need to replace the PS pump, I'll probably purge the system & re-fill with Mobil 1 ATF, which is less than half the cost of the VW fluid.
I'll use this new VW fluid to slowly replace the old fluid. I'll leave approx. 1/4L in the bottle for any future top-ups that may be required. I'm not planning any future maintenance to the PS system.

If you think the fluid is old and intend to replace that with this VW expensive fluid, I think mixing will be a waste.
Its like draining and filling the transmission pan with Amsoil syn ATF when the half the old fluid in the converter is going to mix with the expensive syn ATF.
Purging the PS of old fluid is real simple.
1) Drain the reservior and plug the return line connected to the reservior and point the return line (smaller of the lines connected to reservior, its mostly a 3/8") to a empty gallon jug. Fill reservior with fresh PS fluid.
2) Raise the front of the vehicle and do steering locks meaning put ignition key in ACC and then crank it left and right. While doing this old fluid is manually pushed out while filling the reservior with fresh fluid.
3) Once 3/4 of fresh fluid has passed thro the system via the reservior, reconnect everything back. Fill the reservior to full and start engine and do steering locks left and right 5 times to purge air of the system. Top it off and you are done.
Note most cars have 1L capacity for PS systems (big behemonths like trucks etc may be more).

$18 for mostly Grp I with a splash of PAO and VII? I'd be dumping in the M1 or Amsoil ATF.
I replaced my VW OEM fluid in my 03 Golf with Synpower PS fluid over 25K miles ago with no problem.
