VW brake caliper piston rewind issue (?)

Was there a core charge on the cardones? I wonder if you should just keep an eye on them, and if they give warning signs, mail order some better ones and swap in at your leisure. Even if there is a core charge, it might still be worthwhile.

Yes, there is a core.

Unfortunately, the picture didn't match the metal they used, so it has a cheaper feel to it on a grade basis and that's where I suspect any rust problems would manifest. I would re-use the old metal, but it's shot. .

However, the reman itself looks solid. Slider pins greased nicely with silicon paste, free moving mechanical e-brake with seemingly good seals everwhere. As long as it holds pressure once I got it bled. Couple coats of black paint on the outside of the caliper and call it a day.

Calipers are hardly ever shot.
