Never seen Kendall 5w-40 or the 76 stuff except on websites.

YOu can get the following VW 502 oils over the counter:

*Castrol Syntec 5w-40 (any VW or Audi dealer)

*Castrol Syntec 0w-30 (make sure it says made in Germany on the back. There is a USA version that is not VW502). Can get it at Autozone

*Valvoline Synpower 5w-40 (Napa auto)

*Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic 5w-30 or 10w-30 - Walmart.

*Mobil 1 0w-40 - Walmart or Autozone.

I use Maxlife 5w-30 because it is VW502 and I can get it easily at Walmart for $4.49 a quart. Plus, I don't like large spread oils like 0w-40 or 5w-40. Good luck.

Schaeffers puts out some very fine products. I am interested in their 9000 5W-40 newcomer oil. It has the approval you are looking for.

I'm no longer in VWs but I want to come across this product. I believe it would perform excellently.

Since I've decided not to skimp on the oil for my VW turbo, I'm trying to source & price some of the different VW 502.00 approved 5w40 oils.

Have any of you ever used 76 Pure Synthetic 5W-40? The closest place to me that sells it is in Chattanooga, TN. If I get good feedback from you BITOGers, I may try to pick some up the next time I'm in the 'nooga.

Another one I'm interested in is Kendall GT-1 Full synthetic 5w40. Any comments on this one? Somebody once told me that Kendall was a favorite brand among "motorheads", but I'm not really sure exactly what they meant.

The last one is Total Quartz 9000 5w40. I've never seen it before. Have any of you used it?

Thanks in advance.
