Volvo semi power steering fluid

I'm working on a mid 90s Volvo wg42 semi truck. I want to service the power steering system. There is a filter in the reservoir I'm going to change. On this reservoir it says use type f or type a transmission fluid. Can I use a modern dex/Merc fluid in this or should I go find some type f?

It being so old, and already working for a while, I'd just pick up a quart of type F.

Super Tech or Valvoline, or another similar brand would work well.

Type a trans fluid eventually became dexRon. Basically a thin hydraulic fluid is all that is needed.

I've used Mercon/Dexron in the Ford power steering systems that called for Type F. Worked fine, no problems.

Maxlife ATF would probably be a good choice.
