No I'm bringing up the fact that things like reliability can change dramatically depending on the time the vehicles were built, back in the mid-late 90s VW reliability was really pretty good, as good or better than competitive products, then things got worse, and in the past decade that has changed again.
Just checked the 2015 JD Powers reliability charts for 2015 (VDS), and the VW has 165 per 100 vehicles reported problems versus the industrial average of 147. This is the 2015 study, and based as follows
The study, now in its 26th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2012 model-year vehicles.
The Initial Quality for 2015 models (IQ) owned for 90 days also shows VW below the industrial average of 112 problems per 100 vehicles. VW has 123.
Sorry, don't see how VW is ranked in the top of any report for reliability.
