Anyone see a VOA of LUBEGARD® Highly Friction Modified-ATF Supplement (aka BlackBottle)?

Or even an ATF UOA with LUBEGARD® Highly Friction Modified-ATF Supplement?

MSDS?

Do you really think a $20 VOA is going to show you the structure of the important friction modifiers that are present?

Of course not. Why would I think that? Geeze, give me a little credit. I want to know if they even use any elemental FM's.......just a matter of curiosity.

Pablo, are you considering doping your amsoil ATF with it for use in your Odyssey?

I'd be interested, since I think I have a variant of that transmission in my wife's Acura. This might be the best thing going for these transmissions. The excellent amsoil synthetic ATF + the friction modifiers designed for these dodgy honda auto transmissions. It's so simple, I'm not sure why I haven't heard it suggested before.

That wasn’t really the plan at this point – but the thought had crossed my mind – just for sport.

Really what I was after is seeing, as I stated, if the juice contains anything more that organic esters. Does it contain semi-metallic FM’s?

So maybe I should buy a container, send out a sample for VOA, get the results and then dump the remainder in the AT! The tranny is performing flawlessly, so I hate to “mess” with it. But anything for the sake of science and spending money. (I doubt the stuff will hurt anything)

If this is the recommended FM to convert dex III to z-1, you could be building an ATF with similar properties but way better staying power because of the superior Amsoil ATF.

It could be the silver bullet for this transmission. I'd be interested to see 20 - 30k (equal of course) trans UOA's as follows:

1. Honda Z-1
2. Amsoil ATF
3. Amsoil ATF with LG HFM

Now that would be an interesting side-by-side comparison chart. You'd be doing all us honda auto-trans people a favor!

As you stated, LG HFM is only to convert Dex III to Z1. If you are already using Z1 or a Z1-compatible fluid, the correct LG product to use would be LG "red."

Amsoil ATF probably won’t benefit from “the Red” at all.

“The Black” - so it comes down to, does Amsoil actually need it? And/or what really is in “The Black”? Hence the reason for searching out a VOA.

Never thought of the z1 compatible dex III. In any case, it would be interesting to find out whether the LG HFM makes the Amsoil ATF MORE Z1 compatible.

What do mean by "semi-metallic" FM's?

The LG Red has natural and synthetic esters, anti-oxidants, and a very slight amount of AW agents.

The LG Black has a load of natural and synthesized aminic Friction Modifiers with anti-oxidants.

SmartBlend products are similar.

I mean metallic and semi-metallic compounds containing Zn, P, Ca, Mg, B, etc sometimes AW, sometimes multifunctional additives, sometimes called FM's in ATF UOA's.

Thanks for the real answer. If anyone asks me how Amsoil can be Z-1 and Dexron III at the same time because it doesn't look like it contains the correct elements in a $20 UOA, I will refer them to this thread.
