Virgin Fram XG5 C&P

Bought on Amazon. $8.97. Fram says 99%+ greater than 20u but that’s the group testing. Date looks like Sept 14, 2024. This looks like it has OG Ultra wire-backed synthetic media. Pleat spacing obviously sucks. Fram says no bypass but they put one in here anyway. Wouldn’t matter much. If they use the same spring without the bypass it’ll still leak. Pretty bad by the looks of this one.

Certain large diameter filter sizes never lost the wire backing due to the depth of the pleats. The XG16 is a similar example.

Those louvers look great to me.

Seems the bigger sized Ultras are still using wire backed media. Maybe if the length is too long for non-wire backed media, it gets the wire-backed media instead. Those louvers look OK. Leaf spring is from the Ruffles factory however ... leakage causing an efficiency decrease.

The group includes different sized filters in the line. Been explained many times on why they do a group test like that to cover the filter model line.
