Just use the proper gear oil and you will be fine. The only additive I would ever put in gear oil would be the limited slip additive that is sometimes required. If it was not required I wouldn't use anything.

I'd go with synthetic gear lube 75-90. But that's just me.
Plain gear oil os fine too. The fact that you are changing it is the biggest plus.

I change my old Goldwings rear oil, with 80/90 wt hypoid oil as called for in the manual. It may be stamped on your housing what wt to use.Or try the manual, that's the safest bet.,,

What use would limited slip additive be on a one-wheeled rear end?
IIRC my 82 requires something weird like straight 80. When I'm going to do it it'll get 75w90 syn, all 1/6 of a quart jug or so.
