They are actually amazing for a first try. The software for driving assistance for example is apparently quite good.
It's just that that first try is still not good enough for the US. In Europe they keep trying, but there are plenty of issues there too, some of them - strange ones. Turns out they didn't document some of the body repair procedures for example. Car gets in a crash, gets to the body shop for repairs and there's no official docs on measurements and tolerances, proceduresand whatnot. The shop can figure them out, but won't proceed with the repair without official documentation, for liability purposes.
