Nope. Anyone can claim that they can meet a certain spec based on their internal testing.

Only certain products are approved service fills.

Lubegard cannot possibly work as well as the approved fill, and I bet it's even worse than the multi-vehicle fluids. The additive requirements, especially for wear protection, can be quite different for the various fluid specifications. If you consider how different the requirements are for each applications, you would not use Lubegard. The SAE paper on universal ATFs proves this.

Well seeing how I always use synthetic Dex-III fluids or Universal like AMsoil ATF in all Toyota even those calling for T-IV and have never had a problem I would not waste time on the Lube Guard Black. In fact Maxlife ATF and many other list that they are compatable for a large variety of fluids includeing T-IV. To date I am not aware of anyone haveing any problems useing synthetic Dex products like Mobil 1 ATF,Royal Purple,Amsoil Universal,Maxlife etc..... in anything calling for T-IV. Now do not get me wrong some transmissions are really sensitive but all the Toyota ones seem to be preety easy going. Seeing how all the Transmissions that Toyota has in production that call for T-IV called for Dex-III prior to Toyota makeing the switch they all seem to do fine. In fact I know of one Toyota dealership that does not use T-IV to service transmissions they use Bulk Mobil 1 SuperSyn 3309 if I rember the numbers right in everything! Even their bottled Toyota Branded stuff was not T-IV it simply said Toyota ATF. In fact when I asked about getting a gallon of T-IV int he steel gallon can they told me that they do not carry it or use due to cost.

3309 and T-IV are the same thing.

While the transmissions may have previously called for Dexron, they could have changed the friction material used.
