Yes, you're smart about that. Who knows where these re-man'd or " new" online alternators come from. And you don't want to dump 1/2 of you're life savings into a new " GM" alternator. You're doing right. The little small business local shop won't stick it to you.

Thanks for the props, but I'm not awesome. Everything I learned in almost 50 yrs was by trial and error... Never took a class...School of hard knocks. I've even torched one of my own cars trying to install a new stereo system..Wired it up wrong, obviously, turned it on, the radio, the amp, 4 new speakers went up in flames. Straight to the junkyard. Just a street mechanic now trying to help other people with whatever knowledge I picked up in almost 50 years. I really hope this alternator rebuild solves you're problem. Best of luck and thank you
