Vehicle Sighting - '80s Plymouth Caravelle

Had an '89 Dodge Shadow with the 2.5 engine. One of the few options it had over a base model. The color was dark cherry so kind of sharp looking.
I had a '91 Plymouth Sundance with the 2.2, purchased from my sister when she realized she really needed air conditioning which the America package did not have. Or a tape deck. Or a passenger side mirror. Or lots of other things we take for granted now. Absolutely no frills. I don't have fond memories of it specifically, but it was a good car for what it was, the right car at the time. I enjoyed trying to 'improve' it, and did with limited success.

My parents were Chevy people for a while but then developed a good relationship with the local Chrysler dealer. Over the years they bought a first-year base-model '84 Voyager (with a carb'd 2.2 and a 5-speed!), an '87 Caravan (wood sides and the Mitsu 2.6), an '89 Acclaim (Mitsu 3.0 V6 which was a LOT of engine for that car), this '91 Sundance, a '92 Dodge/Mitsu Colt, a second-generation Voyager, a third-generation Caravan, a fouth-generation Caravan, and finally a fifth-generation Caravan. Nice van but I think the problems they had with the Pentastar (which Chrysler took care of) and the wonky transmission finally broke them of Chryslers. They bought a Subaru Forester which my dad calls a 'sports car'. :)
 
I was married into a 2.5L Sundance with 5MT. I rather liked it though the short wheelbase and solid rear suspension was a bit of a detractor. Reliable and efficient enough.

Being one to appreciate the efficiencies of square spaces, I really liked the acclaim. It would have been well-matched to the 2.5 as a daily driver. I really liked the clean lines and easy seating.

That said, I had quite a wanting for the one that followed, the Chrysler cirrus /dodge stratus model. At the time my ideal would have been a 2.5 in the cirrus-like trim with the MT, but that simply wasn’t a thing.
