Vehicle recommendation for the war zone use

I would suggest something larger like a full size SUV. It's already hard enough to pack equipment and ammo in, now you're adding four men fully equipped.

Also, if you're in a Corolla then you're limited primarily to roads. Roads are watched and targeted. Multiple military aged men in a Corolla going to/from the lines is not inconspicuous.

Something simple and cheap. Mitsu suvs that aren't available in the US, but are available overseas seem to fit that bill.

Stay off the beaten path.

The Hyundai Galloper was a knockoff Mitsubishi SUV for a few years so if you can't find anything better there's always the Korean knockoff.

They used the same engines and everything, just made by Hyundai

Get yourself Skoda Octavia 4Motion. Every mechanic in Ukraine knows how to fix it. They are excellent in winter, parts available at every local junkyard, they come with all parts assembled, unlike Lada Niva (ask me how I know). Even if you can’t find 4Motion, get just regular FWD. Forget JEEP’s, GX etc. You don’t want to draw attention of local henchmens and most of those vehicles that are sold in rich markets suck in war zones.

Why not update this thread full of privates.

My battalion got allocated several of written off Japanese Gelandewagens, called Type 73 that were used by Japan’s Defense Force not too long ago. Front suspension is independent, auto transmission, low power diesel engine.

About a 100,000 km on the odometer, working perfectly. Not terribly fast, but dissects the terrible roads nicely. Personally like it more than the omnipresent Mitsubishi L200s, Nissan Navaras and the like. Feels a grade more durable vs consumer trucks

What else? The clique that has rules Russia for the last quarter of a century expands its military personnel more carelessly than a drunken sailor his pay ashore.

Bonus picture. See if you can spot vehicles. Good luck doing it though aerial reconnaissance.
How to properly blend in. About 6 miles to the hot front line:

Yes, present on fairly large numbers

Solid choice. My best wishes to them. Frontline is hell.

Honestly, I’d like to test this out. But:

1. Armor vests, rifles, helmets, and overall there is lots of accompanying gear. The vehicle has to be easier to enter, hence the preference for boxy things

2. Body-on-frame pick ups are used to the max and beyond of their capability: loaded with people and gear, jumping on the uneven, cratered road surface. Not sure if Corolla is up to.

One thing to carry a fat family of 4 with trunk full of the proverbial groceries in a city environment, totally another what’s going on here

3. Need suspension wider travel

4. The JSDF (Japan self defense force) Mitshubishi type 73 is a purpose build army vehicle and it does feel to me (subjective) a grade or two above more durable vs Mitsubishi L200 which is already a competent “manure mixer”.

These are just thoughts aloud. I’m not saying definitively that Corolla would not work.

I know its only an online enthusiast thread, but dont let that diminish how much I truly thank you for what you are doing for all of us. Please maintain.

Your appreciation is, excuse my tautology, appreciated. We are working like slaves on a galley in a deadly environment here.

Whoever has military experience (or just in general common sense) knows that nothing is never in sufficient quantities in war. Could always have more of everything.

The amount of materiel expanded to fight a war of this scale is mind twisting. Even Russia that has inherited majority of Soviet stockpiles and has some (not great not terrible) means of production capacity, has to rely on North Korea and Iran for some things.

I can see with my eyes that a lot more of their infantry is poorly equipped then well (helmets, armor vests, etc). Their tanks and other armor are often from their great grand father’s youth — late 50s early 60, not even from the 70s or 80s. They do have newer stuff, their electronic warfare is very good, but most is old and getting older as they dig deeper into their stock

Does Ukraine have many dealerships or car buying options nowadays?

I came across this ad today while scrolling Facebook. Right before a post where several dozens of Russians POW are being being marched off. Hopefully that answers your question about dealerships and car buying options

How many confirmed kills you got.

I do use the term “kills”, “killed”, “to kill” etcétera, but it’s very nuanced and limited when use those. Most of the time I use professional jargon such as “eliminated or destroyed enemy personnel, dot, armor” and so on.

It may be silly, but karma is more dense, if you will, in war. I don’t make it personal or am fanatical about it the way a young Palestinian adult might be in his fight against Israel. Some people came with weapons to my country and, unfortunately, they have to be eliminated to create and maintain a precedent that such an adventure is a bad idea.

I always say in my head “sorry boys it had to go down this way for your souls” after a successful target impact.

I (as part of my team) left a small, but measurable dent in enemy’s armored fleet and personnel
If he is US citizen, they will let him out.
I can get permission from command to travel abroad. If you are on good account and/or your command is good, you can leave the country.

I have two passports, but I enter and leave Ukraine on my Ukrainian one because dual citizenship is forbidden in my country (otherwise Russians could give out their passports and then claim their countrymen are calling them in to “liberate” another province of ours)

My main concern was what happened to all the money we’ve sent you, but thanks for the clarification.

Land Rover Ukraine still advertising on Facebook seems to answer that question.

My least concern is not about dollars; my main concern is stopping the illegal attack on a sovereign country.

Only after you finish counting all of the civilians killed in Ukraine since early 2022 can you step up and ask to see where the money went.
