about 450k miles between those vehicles using max life and fram filters only and not a single problem.. i dont know if the oil or filter has anything to do with it, but I havent had any problems while using it. When I do have a problem that I can blame on the oil or filter I will change. So far so good. I am pretty anal about changing the oil at 3k miles no matter what the manual says. My nissan says 7500 mile interval on the oil change, but I base it by the oil color. If it looks ugly before 3k, or if I drive it very hard I will change it early, but never more than 3k.
