Hello...
Anyone heard of this stuff? I recently purchased a 2007 Accord V6 from a family member who had it maintained exclusively at the dealership. In looking at the service records I noticed that for the transmission flush they listed VP094 which I looked up to be a Valvoline 2 part flush product used in flush machines. I am concerned for two reasons...
1) Why is a Honda dealer is using a flush machine when everything I have read including Honda service bulletins say not to flush the transmission but do a drain and fill procedure?
2) Why is the dealer adding the Valvoline VP094? With all of the transmission issue history I am amazed that the dealership would do this.
I am about to embark on a fact finding mission with the dealership and the Honda tech line. I am probably going to drain the fluid in the car and replace with DW-1. I might also get a UOA of the trans fluid. Here is what the data sheet says for the Valvoline 2 part conditioner/cleaner..
VALVOLINE PROFESSIONAL SERIES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SERVICE KIT
• A 2-step professional service
• Designed for use with an automatic transmission fluid exchange machine
• Cleans & Conditions the entire automatic transmission system
• Valvoline professional sries automatic transmission flush safely removes deposits
• Valvoline professional series transmission protector, conditioner & sealer helps maintain shifting performance
Valvoline Professional Series Automatic Transmission Service Kit is designed to clean the entire automatic transmission when used with an automatic transmission exchange machine. A conventional transmission service only removes a small portion of the contaminated fluid. Only the fluid in the pan gets replaced, leaving contaminated fluid in the rest of the automatic transmission system. A conventional transmission service does not include a flush which can leave contaminants on the valve body and transmission cooler.
Valvoline Professional Series Automatic Transmission Service Kit is a two step, professional process to provide the best cleaning and protection available. Valvoline professional series automatic transmission flush contains cleaners designed to remove deposits from the transmission system; which if left in place, could cause sluggish shifting and reduced heat transfer. Valvoline professional series automatic transmission flush safely removes deposits when used as directed. Valvoline professional series transmission protector, conditioner & sealer helps maintain shifting characteristics and protection from wear. It conditions seals to help prevent leaks and helps protect transmission fluid from high temperature breakdown. Valvoline professional series transmission protector, conditioner & sealer is compatible with all types of transmission fluid.
