I've seen a lot of mention of their 0W-30, and sometimes their 5W-40. Has anybody happened to try their 0W-40?

Noticed it's available locally, only the entire range is imported from the Netherlands. Durablend 10W-30 is the only American product I've seen in the range, but I think their gear oils are American sourced too.

I just found their hard to find 5W40 at a local Carquest store...and in that multi-year quest, have never seen the 0W40. I asked the store owner about the 5W40 he had in stock and he said it's a special order that he keeps on hand for a customer....make that two customers now. lol

Which Carquest are you getting it from and how much are they charging?

Oh yea, didn't pay attention to that. I'll pass on the MST. The LL-04 229.31/51 spec oils don't do very well with our fuel sulfur levels. It's too bad HST isn't available in smaller quantities. Must be pretty good basestock with a viscosity index of 187 (even higher than M1 0W-40).

Harlem Auto Parts in Bridgeview, IL www.harlemautoparts.com and they are charging $7.99 a quart if I remember right.

with that 5w40 one of the guys on miata.net put in a 18k UOA that was positively AMAZING. while i am a M1 guy from way back, i would be tempted by this oil...if i had ever seen it.

I don't understand how Valvoline can formulate the MST to meet the low SAP requirements of BMW LL-04 and MB 229.51 specs while meeting the mid SAP requirements of VW 502 and 505.1 specs? Why wouldn't this oil meet the VW 504/507 low SAP spec also?

I remember back in 2000 when I bought my Golf 1.8T. It was Valvoline that had the first 5W-40 502 spec oil you could buy in a retail store. You could only buy Mobil 1 0W-40 from a distributor or Mercedes dealer.

504.00/507.00 oils are 5w30.

EDIT: In 2000, Syntec 5w40 should have been available first?
