it's time to change manual transmission fluid and i would gladly pour amsoil, unfortunately it's not available where i live now. So if anyone has any experience on this one share your thoughts or suggest any other perhaps or drop a link regarding 75w90 grade manufacturers. thank you

75w-90 is a pretty common gear oil grade. Synpower would be a great choice to use in your transmission it has a -45 degrees cold tempature pumpability which is really good for a gear oil. I use the 75w-140 version in my 2005 Jeep for the axles because of my 4.88 gears but, the 75w-90 would be better for your transmission especially for shifting wise. I would use either the synpower are the castrol syntec. The synpower you can get at Napa if one is near you for only 11 dollars a quart. Hope this helps.

If the Synpower you`re considering is a GL5 rear differential oil,it won`t be a good choice. The additives will either harm the synchros (depending on the add pack) and will cause extremely bad shiftability. If you`re going to change your manual transmission fluid, order some Amsoil MTG (you said it`s not available, but can you have it sent there?) and your transmission will love it! If Amsoil is a total no-go,then maybe Redline MT90 (although I feel the Amsoil is superior, and I`ve tried both so I know from experience).

What kind`ve car do you have?

You have Lubro-Moly 75w-90 over there. You should also have Castrol 75w-90.

X2 that 75W90 GL5 gear oil isn't a good choice for a transmission. What vehicle is the transmission in?

My Jeeps both run 80W90 conventional gear oil in the diffs with 5.13's and 5.38's and are fine. It's cheaper too, if you need to field fix any breakage.

transmission is in Mazda Xedos 6 2.0 V6, 1999 pretty much the same as mx-6. 75w90 is unquestionable i might extend my pursuit for amsoil

Jeep said to use GL5 too, and then revised their recommendation to a non-GL5 like Synchromesh and even 10W30 motor oil.

I`m guessing GL4 is *recommended*,whereas a GL5 *can* be used. The GL4 will be better for your transmission and will give you better shiftability as well. Best case the GL5 will give you either gear crunch or very notchy shifting. Worse cae the GL5 will shorten your synchro life.
