Hi guys,

I've got a couple of questions about Maxlife oil.

I'm planning on switching my '98 Blazer to this oil & I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to add the Synpower to the regular Maxlife or run the Maxlife Synthetic instead?

I can get the regular stuff at Walmart for under $10 for five quart jug. The synthetic is about $5 per quart.

I'm planning on six month OCI with regular, with Synpower added or one year for Synthetic.

I put about 6K on the truck annually. Mostly city driving with some occasional hiway flogging to warm the oil to operating temp.

Can the Maxlife Synthetic handle one year OCI?

With 6k miles a year, I would think it is doable. It may take a while but I am running that oil for a 6 month or 7500 mile interval and I plan on getting an analysis on this run. This will include many short city trips(my wife uses this vehicle for her work as a realtor) and a few long highway trips.
This run is my best oppurtunity to really challenge this oil and get a good baseline on this vehicle.

With the Max syn I don't see a reason to treat it but I have become a habitual user of LC, so it's in there.

I got 4400 miles out of 10w30 regular Maxlife (SL) and the used oil analysis showed the oil had a lot of life left. But that was in a two week period with my motorhome. Anyway, I should think the synthetic Maxlife would easily handle the 6000 miles. Don't know about the year, but seems doable.

Chevynut67....I don't see why the regular Maxlife wouldn't last 5-6K miles. Most of the used oil analysis on Maxlife were around 5K miles and seemed to have plenty of life left in them. Unless you have some type of coolant leak in your engine or other problem....Maxlife ought to work for you. Why not use regular Maxlife and change at 5500 miles (10 months) at 1/4 the cost of the Synthetic?

Of course, if you sleep better knowing that the synthetic is in your Blazer....well that's worth something too
