Valvoline dex/merc ok for a 98 corolla?

Hi all Purchased 6 bottles of valvoline dex/merc at my local autozone for a 98 toyota corolla, 3 speed. Car book states 2.7 quarts i belive...the back of the bottles say its ok for where dex III is needed. Their was DEX IV full synthetic bottles at autozone...but the dex/merc combo bottle seemed more explicit towards dex III...whcih is waht my car book calls for...
Did i get the right stuff"?

Firstly DEXRON-IV is the fluid that never was. It was never released. A typo I'm sure.
The next point is how do you know what the fluid to which you are referring has or ever did have any DEXRON-III credentials since DEXRON-III has not existed for some time now and is no longer an official specification.

You'll be fine, our cars call for DEX-III. I've had the Valvoline dex/merc in my car for about 30,000 miles w/out problems (2002 Prizm, 4sp).

Don't forget that on the three speed the differential needs to be drained / filled separately as well, through a different port from the AT. Read up online or in a service guide if you have one.

You made about the best possible choice around. Maxlife is held in high regard around here, especially for older Dex applications.
