Valvoline Advanced 75W-85 Gear Oil

Meehhh ...

So it's a tad thinner on the top end. I've never considered it a "must-have" to thin out my diff fluid in order to gain micro-fractional mpg improvements. For Joe Average consumer, this won't have much appeal. For someone who manages a massive fleet of vehicles, it might make a slight fuel economy difference?

Way back in the day, it was common for Xw-140 to be prevent in rear diffs. Along comes 75w-90; that seems like quite a grade shift. Now, Valvoline is making this 75w-85? Other than someone who's 100% dedicated to an OE application "needing" the "right" oil, I can't see this as anything but a nothing burger.

If you notice the MT-1 rating in the spec sheet, this could be a decent "off label" transfer case oil, similar to Redline MT-LV.

The same could be said about 0W-8 and 0W-16 grades of engine oil.

Oddly enough, the spec sheet has a warning to not use it in manual transmissions requiring GL-4.
