Is Valvoline All Climate 5w30 conventional motor oil group III? Or will I have to use a synthetic blend to get group III?

Thanks

You can probably use rebated Maxlife for a long time. If you do the free 5 qt rebate then you get $5 off on the next 6. I'm using it as long as that combination keeps it priced below $1 gt.

I would not use all climate when maxlife is less.
Maxlife is a blend.

I have heard that Maxlife is what All Climate should have been. MSDSs showed AC to be all Group I, but that was SL. I don't know if it changed for SM.

I think it did Paul. Both 5w-20 and 5w30 state this in the materials section of the MSDS:

2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS

Ingredient(s) CAS Number % (by weight)
-------------------------------------------- ------------- -------------
DISTILLATES, PETROLEUM, HYDROTREATED HEAVY P
77.0- 87.0 64742-54-7
DETERGENT/DISPERSANT ADDITIVE
5.0- 15.0
VISCOSITY MODIFIER
1.9- 12.0
ZINC COMPOUNDS
1.0- 6.0

edit: I can't get it to line up right, but the base oil looks to be all group II at least (hydrotreated heavy petroleum)
