Val SynPower Blend P/S fluid:

Is there a difference between the 16oz and 32oz bottles of the Valvoline SynPower Power Steering fluid?

The 16oz bottle is $4.99 and the 32oz bottle is $5.99, only a dollar more!

Both labels say for "top off", but I will be using the turkey baster method a few times in a '00 Silverado 5.3.

I have noticed that the P/S fluids with "stop leak" say for "top off".

Are they not for replacing the fluid, just topping off?

It seems most here at BITOG who replace P/S fluids in GM vehicles use the Valvoline SynPower Power Steering. Is it one of the few fluids that meet GM spec's?

I'm using Synpower as a total fluid replacement in my '00 Grand Am GT. At 100K, I did the turkey baster thing and added at most 1/4 qt. of fluid to the resevoir. I've done that 3 times I think and the fluid is looking better. The feel of the steering has gotten a lot better though. It's very smooth...like butta! I plan on finishing off the Synpower qt. here soon. I'll probably keep doing it every few thousand miles till the fluid is clear. Then after that, I'll do it once at every oil change.

I think it's fine to use it as a total fluid replacement. I don't really know about any of the stop-leak stuff.

I have a '03 Sierra and turkey bastered the P/S once using this Valvoline SynPower Blend. I put back in about 16 Oz from a 32 Oz bottle.

I'll do 'er one more time soon and that should be good.

Go ahead and use it, my truck liked it...
