Using vacuum hose on a California cars evap system will fail you on a smog test! My inspector failed my 92 SC400 for having a 5" long vacuum type hose coming off the charcoal canister to a hard line. He said it has to be evap rated ie. fuel rated. And of course the parts houses around here are all out of that size fuel line. I read in a past closed post that a guy replaced some lines on his Lexus with vacuum but that doesn't fly here in California....good luck.

Do they proceed to the rest of the tests and tell you it's the only issue or not?

If you look at specs for "emissions" hose there is a max permeability. All I can say is, wow, I've never known a mechanic to be that detail oriented. It's a 32 year old car and he went all "Rain Man" on it.

He’s probably facing jail time by CARB if he misses this stuff and passes it.

Rock Auto has fuel hose…

Grab some spring clamps to hold it on…

Gates starts at 27000 for 1/8, 27001 is 3/16, 27002 is 1/4, goes up…

O’Reilly Auto has the best selection of fuel hose…
