V-Power and Techron?

I read online that Shell bought out Texaco's interests and stock after the Chevron-Texaco merger a few years ago, and then Shell converted a lot of Texaco stations to the Shell brand.

I wonder does that mean that the V-Power additive in Shell gas is the same or different than Techron? Seems I remember reading they are similar but each has different proprietary compositions.

If they are the same then I guess I can stop looking for Chevron or Texaco stations, and use Shell more often since they are everywhere here where I live.

Shell is nitrogen enriched. We dont have any Chevrons up here so i do not know. V-power serves me well and it does not contain ethanol. Its the only gas that does not. Too bad its only 91oct.

All the gas stations around here have 10% Ethanol. I was trying to use Chevron or Texaco exclusively, and used Shell when I was not near a Chevron or Texaco. I think now I will just use Shell and not make any special efforts to buy Chevron or Texaco.

I read on a Google search that a lot of people seem to get a bit more MPG out of Shell anyway, but I was and still am curious about the differences in V-Power and Techron, if any differences really do exist.

There's a Shell station on practically every street corner here in Florida.

Yes the gas mileage is better for me with no ethanol V-power.

Esso doesn't have ethanol? since when. I will check it out since i do not even go in to an Esso. I wouldnt know. I do know that in the summer last year it states 10% ethanol.

It all depends on locale really....Shell and Chevron gas both have e10 here in my area of the state....

BUT, I heard there is a BP Station down south from me, that carries e0 - I hear the place is at/around/on the beach, so they market their gas towards boaters

But nothings stopping anything else gassing up there....

But yea, all grades contain ethanol here....

i just put redline S1 1 into my car. would it be a waste to put some techron concentrate in the next tank fill?

Red Line is really good, it's the best fuel system treatment I have ever used. Techron is good too but I think the Red Line is better. It probably would not hurt anything but would be a waste of money to add any other fuel treatments for at least the next 3000 miles.
