using component video cables as audio cables?

Hi everyobdy,

Since I know there are a handful of audio whiz-kids that hang out on here, I wanted to check and see whether I can use a component video cable to carry an audio signal that would normally be carried by a regular RCA cable.

Ultimately, I'd like to use a component video cable in lieu of a standard RCA for a behind the wall run of a 4-5 feet for a subwoofer LFE input. The component cable looks to have nice shielding which a standard RCA doesn't have.

Will this work? Is there any difference in sound quality? Thanks in advance!

Actually, component cable is ideal for a subwoofer run since it is 75ohm shielded cable (just like a sub cable). It will also work OK for normal audio use.
