How important is it to keep the aftermarket filter specs close to the one that came from the factory on the vehicle ?
For instance the bypass valve relief pressure ? The truck in question is a 2016 F 150 5.0.
Motorcraft FL 500 is set at 8 psi , the Wix 57502 is set at 22 psi. Does this affect start up below freezing ?
Sorry for my ignorance when it comes to filters. But it is kinda hard for me to find info using this forum's search.
Thank you for your time.

There are three related issues with filter and by-pass. Media permeability and total area affect the flow through the media, so more open media can pass more and thicker oil easier. Larger media area can too.

Media strength can be the deciding factor in setting the valve. Often the by-pass system is set to take this into account. The OEM media might have been paper (low strength), so the by-pass was set low to protect it from tearing.

As long as the by-pass is set well below the operating oil pressure of the engine it should make little difference

I always go to oversized filters for cold season work, if they'll fit ... Putting a 1 quart filter in place of a stubby will mean lots more media area so cold thick oil can be filtered w/o opening the by-pass. But, that is all about room to do so ... Also, the larger media area means the filter can remain longer - so maybe two or three oil changes, before the filter has to come off...

Big quality filter can usually go 12,000 miles easy

Thank you for the explanation. I have a Ultra XG10575 on there now (w/Pennzoil Platinum 5w20). I'm a little paranoid of a Motorcraft tearing , lol.
Just wanted to make sure running any of these aftermarkets wasn't gonna be a problem.
The fram , wix , amsoil and motorcraft are all a tad over 4 inches.

The engine operating oil pressure has no effect on the operation of the filter's bypass valve. The filter's bypass valve only funtions as a result of the delta-p across the media, which you covered in the first 2 paragraphs of your post.
