Using 1/4 the Gunk Motor Flush before OC?

to help REALLY clean up things w/o dislodging sludge particles? Its akin to Seafoam about ~100 miles before OC, but what if using 1/4 (or 1/8?) "Gunk/Solder Seal Motor Flush" before an OC be a "softer" way of flushing a cruddy engine?

Especially if the reduced amount helps suspend some crud, with an unknown engine history

Maybe P/Owner used Motor Honey AND Lucas

and thats why its giving off odd smoke signals.. or maybe the carb (automatic as it is) is out of adjustment, or my 02 sensor does not work anymore, or my exhaust is just plain "dead" to make "Grey" smoke at odd times.

Would you use a reduced amount of Motor Flush for 10 minutes, idle, hot engine before an OC, like RIGHT before an OC before the nut comes off and its drained?

Don't run that stuff in your engine while driving, only at idle right before you dump your oil.

I use 2oz Lubegard Engine Flush in my E430 40 miles before change oil. The night before I added Lubegard Engine Flush I check the oil level and condition on the dipstick, level was near full and oil color was medium amber. After 40 miles of highway driving, he oil level was the same but the oil is very black. The reduced dosage of Lubegard Engine Flush seems to work well with normal highway driving.

Lubegard Engine Flush is hard to find at local store, Lubro-Moly Engine Flush can be found at Napa store for about $7 a bottle. You should try 2-3oz Lubro-Moly Engine Flush and drive about 10-20 miles then check the oil to see if it does the cleaning or not, then either drive some more or change the oil.

I wouldn't drive it long, that's for sure. If anything, I'd idle to operating temp with a small amount(2 oz max) in added, and run a couple miles down the road and then back, already set up to immediately drain the oil. I doubt your way hurts the lubrication in short number of miles but depending on if this is at the end of a short cleanup interval or an already exhausted oil finishing off an extended OCI, I'd be somewhat leery of how quickly the engine flush additive would thin the oil too much. Which makes sense, as most of these only say to idle the engine without putting a load on it(don't drive it).

Oh, and don't use Gunk Motor Flush. Definitely use LubroMoly Motor Flush or LubeGuard Engine Flush.

i dont think i would use the gunk. just refill with 20% MMO and it will give better results. all those ten min flushes do is clean the oil ports and they are probably already clean from the little bit of maintenance you have done already

Could you use around a 50/50 mix of Mmo and say 15w40 or 20w50 for a couple hundred easy miles? I'm unsure though.

You are asking about using an additive for which there is no real base of experience here.
Did you already buy this stuff?
If you did, I doubt that using it as you've suggested would cause any harm, and might do some good.
If you haven't already bought it, my recommendation would be to use nothing, and to simply use any oil and filter, and change both each 3K or so until you feel that the engine is cleaned up.
If you must use an additive, use MMO, which many here have experience with.
Those who like MMO report that it really does clean, and doesn't seem to cause any problems.

1. Don't drive your car with that Gunk stuff mixed in (in any amount).

2. MMO would be a fine choice. They recommend the MAXIMUM concentration at 20% of the total oil volume. So that would be 1qt MMO + 4qts of oil.

Don't use any kind of engine flush; that is my advice. Just use clean engine oil and change it regularly.

Just run a quart of MMO with your oil fill on a regular basis, or for at least a few oil changes - that will slowly clean the engine safetly.

You really don't need to do any fancy 'flush' procedure.
