This EA15K13 filter came off the Pilot after a 4k OCI. This filter was installed at ~500 miles, and I changed the oil and this filter, the Pilot's first Amsoil filter, again after a long trip. I wasn't planning on posting anything, as we've all seen other Amsoil filter's innards. Last night I got around to cutting it open and was surprised by its construction. Yes, had I been paying closer attention and looking beyond checking the threads for burrs when installing, I would have seen this before now. The inner cage is not the expected metal louvers, but a thin, plastic cage. The majority of the filter material is cellulose. It is wired-backed, and I ripped it out vs clean-cutting it.
I bought four of these filters, the one I used and cut open, one on the engine, and two more on the shelf. The two on the shelf have the same construction. These filters weigh 203 grams vs 247 grams of the Pentius filters I bought to use going forward. I will not use the two remaining and will switch to the Pentius at the next oil change.
This picture is from a WCW review of the Amsoil EA15K13 a year ago on YT (and what I expected to see):
This is the innards of the one I cut open last night:

After I mangled it open:
