Use the same Mobil 1 filter for 3 oil changes?

What are your winter temps in Maryland? If I recall correctly, 10W-40 is good down to +20F.

15,000 in my Subarus with a Wix filter yielded used oil analysis with insoluables less than 0.2%. NO PROBLEMS doing this. When you realize that filters get MORE efficient as they age, as long as you aren't exceeding the time that the filter media holds up well, and as long as the anti-drainback function (if the filter has one) is working, and as long as you have a clean engine, the "change the filter every oil change" is as out of date as the 3000 mile oil change.
