USA Floor Jack

My HF aluminum 1.5T jack is very convenient and easy to move around compared to my 3T steel jack however it isn't holding pressure anymore. It will jack the car up but slowly loses it. I still use it to lift so I can put my floor jacks under the car. I've tried replacing the o-ring and pumping to get the air out to no avail. Anybody have any tips on how I can fix it so it stays up?
New one? I have not taken mine apart but my guess is that its uber cheap on the inside, and perhaps whatever the o ring seals against is also worn. However I would not rule out a bad from the box replacement o ring either.

I'm using o-rings from a package of various size o-rings bought on Amazon. Maybe I should try to get an OE one from HF and see if that helps. Thanks.

Hein Warner is Chinese owned but is made as I recall.

Snap on is apparently chinesium, and the same as the Daytona super duty.

I believe us Jack and maybe some danish long reach jacks are still first world made.

The HF cheap aluminum 1.5 ton is hard to beat, really light, really excellent. Worth getting regardless but may be a stopgap to let you find bits of time to rebuild the other.

I bought a used Matco 3 ton floor jack. It's labeled "The Beast". It's a monster and looks more heavy duty that the Harbor Freight ones I have seen. Consider a used one.

I have an old Snap On YA642 jack. I bought it new in the early 80's, it's one of those made in USA by I think Walker who also made the Lincoln version, they all look the same. It hadn't worked for years and I had bought other jacks in mean time, intending to get the parts to fix the old Snap On one day. We'll one of the replacements I bought started leaking so I looked into finally getting the parts for the Snap On to fix it myself. I have the A series version of the jack and apparently the tank nut can be a bear to remove. It requires a special socket, probably need to fabricate one out a big impact socket. Anyway, I called a local hydraulic repair shop that advertises it also repairs jacks.
I call them and first thing the guy says is if it's USA made it should be no problem, he has the kits.
Long story short, I drop the jack off and he calls me next day, it's done. Go pick it up and its all cleaned up, lubed and even a new metal vent cap to replace the original plastic one. Parts & labor - $150. Well worth it.

I thought the Snap On truck would have all the parts for anything Snap On.

My USA made Craftsman 50 year old floor jack is starting to fail. Load gradually sinks. I would like to attempt a repair but am wary due to past experience. Tried to repair a friends but found it impossible to get apart. All the seals are probably available but I'm not sure how difficult it will be to match them up and I'm pretty busy right now. Don't see a lot of time freeing up in the future either. And I have a car that needs service.

Looks like some decent ones at NAPA around $300-$400. Snap-On is over $1000 and would break the budget. Any USA made floor jacks at a reasonable price available?

Thanks.

Try Catipillar Antistiction fluid. Funny name but really works. Used in our excavator and 5th wheel trailer. Take out as much fluid as you can and refill with the Antistiction fluid.

You lift your truck with that and an adapter for height? Or you have a second jack?
IME quite often you need a spacer on SFA trucks to clear the tie rod or steering stab and catch the axle tube.

So, a good thing to have in your arsenal regardless.

I have two 4T Big Red floor jacks. They are one download only.
Got them from TSC and on my shop floor - once is enough 😵‍💫

Have the exact same jack and got it repaired at a local hydraulic repair shop 5 years ago when it started leaking. In the meantime, I got a Daytona and haven't even dusted the SO off since. When the Daytona starts to go south, I'll give it to someone who won't mind the repair and pull the "tank" out again. Or use it for a boat anchor 😁.

Another chalk mark for the Daytona 3 ton low profile. You gotta watch the weekly sales. Picked mine up for $99 a few months ago.

Hmm 94# and looks like max height of 20". If they could have managed 24" these could be really cool.
