This an analysis of a sample of the ATF in our '06 Sprinter taken as I was changing it for the second time. The vehicle currently has around 154K on it, and 30K on the ATF. I will pull a sample at 180K and see how it looks.
Just want to say....Bravo...for doing early drains on the wear metals associated with OEM new equiptment. Don't forget the rear gears if the Sprinter has one?
I did the rear end as recommended, at the 4th maintenance service (120K miles)
Rather than just draining thru the plug, I pulled the pumpkin so I could have a look at the gears and the interior .... the gear oil was clean and there no sludge or metal in the bottom of the housing - in fact, I sopped up the remaining gear oil in the bottom of the axle housing with paper towels .... and there was no discoloration on the towels - other than what clean, amber (transparent) gear oil would make. (I was amazed)
