UOA...How to Extract from Engine?

I've got a silly simple question. I've never done a UOA, specifically from an engine with the oil still in it. What is the best way to extract enough oil from an engine to send it out for analysis mid OCI?

I'll be changing over to HPL PCMO oil soonish and don't want to dump it at 5k OCI if I don't have to, I'd like to test it at 5k and see how it looks and make a decision after analysis on how long to leave it in there.
  1. Use a 12V pump extractor? Could be contaminated by whatever was in the pump previously.
  2. Drain some out of the plug into a very clean container? Take some for a sample and pour the rest back into the engine?
Thoughts?

fill the sample bottle mid stream when you remove the drain plug to drain the oil into a drain pan.
That is one way...but seems like a lot of effort to drain all of the oil and put it back into the engine. This would be a UOA mid OCI to see how the oil is doing during the current OCI.

@racer12306 Thank you! I wasn't using good enough search terms...I kept coming up with extractors like the MightyVac. This will be perfect, thanks!

I have an oil extractor from Blackstone. I stick a clear plastic tube down the dipstick hole and viola there's your sample.

Just my $0.02
