Hi BITOG members in for my annual UOA. Car is a 2008 Corvette Z06. Saw street miles and 6 track days and 5 autocross events. OLM read 42%. Oil was in the 250s for most of the events, but 2 of the days it got around 265F. I checked the oil pressures at 265F and they were right at the low limit for a hot LS7. Thus, for this oil change, I used the rest of my 5w-30 (2.3qt) and then moved to Redline 5w-40 and a K&N oil filter. Engine is pretty much stock, with the heads fixed. The run "#3" in the image is the first oil change after fixing the heads and replacing the exhaust valves. Has a Corsa axleback exhaust and K&N drop-in filter. I've read some stuff that the first run of Redline usually is a "cleanup" run and the wear metals usually show higher. Curious to see what the next run shows after it gets beat up some more at the track. I suspect Silicon is high because it's Redline and thats the anti-foam. Not sure how to do the code thing anymore, maybe a mod can help me out here.

Silicon can also indicate "dirt."
It may be Redline's anti foam additive, or a cleanup as you mentioned.

Time to go back to Mobil 1 and tell Mobil 1 your sorry

I think I'd choose an oil that maintains adequate oil pressure without excess temperature. Sometimes the use of a more viscous oil results in higher oil temperatures.

With those results I wouldn't see the need in buying redline, A guy would slip right back over to wally world and snag on some more mobil 1
someone's been watching VGG...

Regarding the report, sometimes first run of a new oil has higher wear? Try one more UOA perhaps?
