Hey rudolphna,I just got a great idea! try some of that ENGINE RESTORE I think its called (they make it for 4,6 & 8 cylinder engines. Supposedly puts a film in the cylinder wall to cover up all the scratches etc.
LOL you all want me to spend money I don't have... I don't even have any money to put gas in my car at the moment. As a teenager in high school, finding a job in this area isn't the easiest thing to do. Yes I would be interested in that restore stuff though, it WOULD be a good test of it. But first I want to take it apart to see the damage. And If by some miracle I can reassemble it, then we'll see.
and BTW after seeing the black brick that you may call an air filter that came off of my neighbors B&S I'm going to just clean mine every year and replace after a decade. Still going to change the oil every year with some cheap conventional though. You are sick to treat an engine that way.
Wow. Just . . . wow. It does make me a little sad, too. Glad I didn't have to do it.
My grandfather had a small engine shop, so I had access to all kinds of parts from scrap engines that I mangled together into running engines. It was amazing how bullet proof those old engines were. That being said, I do not think any of the Briggs engines built in the last 10 years are made with anywhere near the quality and durability of previous generations.
For the record, after I reassembled it, it still ran. It flung 20W-50 out the bottom crank bearing all over the ground and inside of the deck, and smoked like a steam engine, but it ran. I was shocked. Tough little brigs.
