"Universal Average" term used in UOA's

I want to make sure I understand this right.

When they have the Universal averages on a used oil analysis does that mean an average for the same miles on the oil you ran or an average of all samples sent in or something else?

I ask because what might seem like a high wear issue might not be if the average was based on vehicles going 6,000 miles average but your sample was for 12,000 miles.

They tell you what the avg oil sample mile is, that is where the avg UOA comes from.

That's what Kristen said from Blackstone. It's a composite of all samples for that engine. I don't know if it's chassis specific or not. One member was the first to submit a sample for the engine. They formed the first UA. It's the same for visc and other stats.

For Blackstone labs I believe it is the average for all vehicles that have the same engine as yours. When calculating the average they don't include the engines that have obvious problems. They will often (but not always) tell you in the comments section how many miles the average sample has. It seems like it is often 4500-5000 miles.
