The only cleaning I did was around the edges where the new gasket would set. Looks like PP is doing a good job. Don't have it on my sheet but started PP 5w20 around 55k, before that was MC. Did use Ultra 5w20 once and PP 0w20 is in there now. Mileage really varies based on the amount of driving, we tried for 10k/1yr. at 133k right now. Only did the front set now have get enough motivation to take apart 1/4 of the engine compartment to do the back set. Hoping it was the front that was dripping on the exhaust causing the stink and the other can wait till spring.

Hopefully lot more miles probably won't be able to say that about the body. Got to work more on slowing down the rust. Should pull the Focus's cover it's had PP just as long.

Looks very nice. I have the same engine/car combo and my burning oil smell came from a front cover leak, which is evidently common. So, if It's still an issue, don't assume it's necessarily the rear valve cover. It's an expensive repair; I went the Mobil1 HM route which slowed it enough to eliminate the oil on exhaust odor.

Yes it is a expensive repair. The gasket set itself cost $50. Could be the timing cover gasket also but that will be a trade in event if that occurs. What I think is happening is the oil from the front cover runs down on the oil filter which drips on the cross-over. Forgot to mention I did do 1/2 quart top-off of Mobil HM and it did help.

Oh no, it has tracks on the lobes like Mobil 1! Better get some Royal Purple in there STAT!

(remember those threads?)

Seriously though, the engine looks excellent and exceptionally clean

Well I did forget about it but you brought it back! Interesting threads on here sometimes.

No smell today in 50 miles of driving. Had a little oil on the filter but could be residule. Still could smell oil standing next to it though.
