Uh oh! Jiffy Lube is Now Selling and Installing Tires + Brake Work

We have Jiffy doing brakes up the street. Took one of my Scions for an oil change their once, noticed the posted 8x10 framed sign on the wall "not responsible for stripped oil drain pan bolts". That was my last time going to jiffy.

I use valvoline for their 50 percent off oil changes they do a fine job and call out the torque specs of the plug and do a lot of checks. For $29 out the door they can mess with the under engine covers, and i'm in and out in 15 minutes.

Is the 50% off a local deal? Checking the web it's either $10..00 or $7.00 off depending.....on the oil.

Wonder if this might be a good thing in states that don't have inspections? I mean, while there are those who won't change their oil on a timely basis, they do still get in periodically. A shop that could upsell tires might possible help out a few too oblivious otherwise. [Of course they could always decline getting new tires.]

They could compete with Tire Kingdom, Discount Tire, etc… if ran correctly.
All Tire Kingdom does is rip people off in South Florida. Happened to most of my naive neighbors. Jiffy Lube will make a ton of of money when all the snowbirds come down for a oil change. The average oil change will probably cost them 600-1200 bucks or more after they upsell them unnecessary services.

If it were cost effective to mount and balance my own tires with the necessary equipment I would do that. I trust NOBODY let alone a kid from dippy lube. If they are expanding this service I expect to see more blowouts, stripped lugs, chewed up studs, wheels falling off, rims getting scratched up. This is a recipe for disaster

Stopped by JL earlier to dump some personal used oil. I watched their "manager" brush on a ridiculous amount of CRC brake grease onto dirty, rusty caliper abutment clips before completing the pad slap. :D
